The Steady and Amazing Advance of Technology

I’ve had this new-fangled phone toy for a couple of weeks. I’m amazed at the stuff you can do with it. The phone’s not bad (although I hate camera phones with a passion). It’s got GPS technology embedded in it. The phone keeps track of where you take pictures. It’s led me on trips through the woods looking for geocaches (plug: geocaching is fun, and I know the guy who invented it). I listen to music with it. My old iPod is looking dusty and shabby – not to mention it’s becoming unreliable. Games! I played Atari’s Adventure on it for like 2 hours yesterday. You can read all kinds of docs (got most of H.P. Lovecraft’s stuff on there now) including Powerpoints, it has a handy calculator. It’ll help you keep your sex life tracked (not that I do that particular thing – but handy for fertility purposes). Run credit cards when you are selling prints of your photos. There is literally an app for all that crazy shit.

I check Pinkomag, my buddy’s blog, the weather forecast.  Emails.  Facebook.  Christ!  I think it’ll even hook up to your TV with the proper cord.  No bullshit!

Hmm. Ever watch a movie these days and see a guy or gal pick up a phone from their desk and it has the curly cord on it? Seems weird now, eh? If it hasn’t happened to you yet, just hang in there.

I’m stunned.  I don’t get stunned often about gizmos.  It’s handy.  This is not a plug, but if you like having neat stuff and have a couple of Franklins to spare, then hey.  Sadly, I spent 200 bucks on mine only to learn 2 weeks later I ought to have waited another couple weeks, but hey.
